Venetian Masks by SNAPartists

Venetian Masks by SNAPartists

SNAP students were shown images of masks from around the world to help inspire them with making their creations. Some of the most famous, and particularly decorative masks, come from Venice, Italy. The masks are especially popular during Carnival in February.

For this project each student received a plain, smooth white mask. They used modeling paste to texture the face surface, and when dry, they painted the faces using various colors of acrylic paint.

To further embellish the mask face they used beads, sequins, and other fabric accessories. For the final touch students uses yarns and decorative cording for hair and fashioned head dresses and scarves from fabric.

Throughout the mask exhibit photographs have been placed of students at work on a variety of projects. These photos, taken in previous classes, highlight the focus, hard work and absolute joy that goes into creating their unique artistic accomplishments.

We hope you enjoy the show and will visit us at www.snaparts.org for more images of the students work and information about our programs.
