On Saturday June 9, Lexington will Go Purple to raise awareness and money to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
Lexington Goes Purple is an event under the Alzheimer's association's Longest Day Program.
Caring for someone with Alzheimer's is an act of love. So, for the Longest Day program, we pick a day on or near the summer solstice and do
something we love to honor an Alzheimer's patient or caregiver whom we love.
The Lexington goes Purple Program includes many activities:
Around the Center: Join us for a refreshing cup of lemonade at one of our lemonade stands.
Cary Memorial Library: Visit the Idea wall any time this weekend and tell us what you would do to honor someone you love.
Join us at the Depot J7ne 9th-
9:30 - 10:30am: Dress your favorite pooch in purple and join the Purple Puppy Promenade. Make a donation in any amount and get an official Alzheimer's Association bandana.
10:00am - noon: Take a guided walk with Citizens for Lexington Conservation (CLC) around the woods at Lincoln Park, one of Lexington's most accessible open spaces.
1:00 - 2:00pm: Enjoy live classical music from the Lexington Chamber Music Center.
2:00 - 3:00pm: Sing-a-long and story-telling with Rose Harvey and Lin Kelleher.
All day: fold a paper crane with the LHS Origami Club - 1,000 paper cranes will make our wish for a world without Alzheimer's come true.
All day: Participate in a "citizen science" research project by playing Stall Catchers on your Apple or Android mobile device.
All day: Share memories at the "My Favorite Memory Is..." photo salon.
All day: Learn about services and support for patients and caregivers from local providers.
4:00 pm: Celebrate with Purple Ice Cream!
Or stop by one of our sponsoring restaurants (Abbots Frozen Custard, The
Inn at Hastings Park and Via Lago) and enjoy a purple drink or dessert between now and June 16!
