Passport to China Saturday, February 28th

On Saturday evening February 28th, The Lexington High School Choral Department presents Passport to China, exploring China’s cultural, culinary, and socio-political landscape. Open to members of the public of all ages and including musical and cultural performances, Pan-Asian buffet, silent auction, screening of the award-winning documentary film, Sunrise Over Tiananmen Square, and a fascinating panel discussion about life in China, past and present. Panelists include Weili Ye, Professor of Modern Chinese History at the University of Massachusetts and author of Growing Up in the People’s Republic of China, Teng Biao, Chinese human rights lawyer, activist and founder of the Open Constitution Initiative in China and a visiting fellow at Harvard Law School, and Lexington resident and author, Lin Jensen, who is currently writing a memoir about life in China in the aftermath of the Cultural Revolution. Guests are invited to attend one or more of the evening’s offerings.  
 
5:00-6:00 PM Chinese Music, Dance and Martial Arts Performances  
 
6:00-7:00PM Pan-Asian Buffet and Silent Auction with tickets to performances, hotel getaways, Tom Brady Superbowl photo, gift certificates, and more.  
 
7:00-8:00PM Screening of Award-winning Documentary, Sunrise Over Tiananmen Square, followed by discussion with eminent Chinese panelists  
 
Tickets available at the door (reservations required for the buffet dinner. Visit lhschoral.org) Performance hour $10, Film Discussion $5, Pan-Asian Buffet $10, or $20 for all three events, $65 for families of four. All proceeds help students with financial support for an LHS choral trip to China in April.
