The Town of Watertown MA seeks to create a pool of qualified candidates who will be available to take minutes and provide clerical support to the Town Council committees. The Recording Secretaries will be scheduled as needed by the Town Council and will be responsible for recording and transcribing oral dictation by attending the meetings or from a tape-recorded meeting; maintaining and retrieving records, facts and minutes of the official business of the Town Council committees. High School diploma (or GED), satisfactory completion of a secretarial training program, and at least two years of related experience required. College degree preferred. Thorough knowledge of English, spelling and punctuation; ability to compose minutes; ability to maintain effective working relationships with officials and the general public. Ability to type 50 words per minute; ability to take dictation at a speed of 100 words per minute. $19.75 per hour. These are on-call, at-will, non-benefit eligible positions.
